ARRL FD22 LogoRadio Club of Tacoma will be back in the field this summer at our usual site:  the southeastern portion of the Western State Hospital campus, directly across from Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood (map).

This year we have an third AB-577 portable tower, so we'll have monobanders for 20, 15 and 10M, along with wire antennas for 40M and 80M.  The current plan is to operate 4A, with all stations capable of CW, SSB and digital modes.

This year we are led by Field (Day) Marshal Mike W7MKE.  He has recruited station managers as follows:

  • 80/15M Dan KD7SV
  • 40M Ellen AI7FP
  • 20M Mike W7XTZ
  • 10M Gary WG7X

All stations will be housed in our 20x30-foot shelter beside the central fir tree.  Here it is, at night, during last year's Field Day.

FD2023 night sm

Our kitchen, eating and gathering shelter will be set up in the usual grove of smaller trees near the road.  Camp chefs Paul W7PFU and Jan K7HTU, along with Red WB7EC and other helpers, will keep us fed during the weekend.  The Saturday evening meal will be POT LUCK, with the club supplying grilled entries and soft drinks.  Be thinking about what you might bring!
