CERT stands for "Community Emergency Response Team". Tacoma CERT is a program (based on the federal government FEMA model) that helps prepare citizens who live or work in the City of Tacoma to respond to disasters. Volunteers organize themselves by neighborhoods and zip codes. A number of Club members have attended CERT training classes and have joined the Tacoma CERT Amateur Radio Team.
The Tacoma CERT Amateur Radio Team and RCT have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for use of the Club's repeater:
- On the first Monday of each month, the CERT Team Net meets at 7:15 PM on 147.280 MHz (tone 103.5).
- On other Mondays during the month, the CERT Team Net meets at 7:15 PM on 147.470 MHz simplex.
For general information about CERT activities and training classes, visit the City of Tacoma CERT website or CERT Community Website.
