From time to time, the Radio Club of Tacoma operates W7DK for the popular Parks On The Air program. Club members set up a mini-Field-Day-like deployment at a national or state park for a fun day with club members enoying our favorite hobby!
Club members can participate in club-sponsored POTA activities in two ways:
- Operate on the air as an "activator" at the park
- Contact W7DK as a "hunter" on the day of the event
Club members are encouraged to come out to any scheduled activation to share knowledge or learn about portable setups and operations, different modes of operation (CW, Phone, Digital), how to manage/work pileups, and even operate HF bands with a control operator in a relaxed environment.
Any club member can organize a POTA activation for the club. Contact the coordinator for guidance, and to assure there are no conflicts with other W7DK operations.

Planned Radio Club of Tacoma POTA activations
The next RTC POTA activation will be February 12, 2023.
Location will be Kopachuck State Park (K-3212)
Time 11 am to 3 pm
This activation is open to all club members. This is a field day type event, so if you have a portable rig please bring it. This is a great chance for club members to activate new modes, and experiement with antennas. Attendees will need a Discovery pass, or will be required to purchase a day pass at the park.
