Follow these steps to get your GMRS license: |
Create your FCC CORES accountGo to the FCC CORES site and register to receive your FCC Registration Number (FRN); you’ll provide your name, address, email, and SSN. |
Log into the FCC ULS systemUse your new FRN and password to sign into the Universal Licensing System, where all radio-service applications are filed. |
Apply for a GMRS licenseChoose “Apply for a New License,” select radio service code ZA (GMRS), and complete the short form with your personal information. |
Answer eligibility questionsConfirm you are at least 18 and not acting for a foreign government; if you have a felony history, you must provide a brief explanation. |
Pay the $35 FCC feeSubmit the application and pay the required fee; once processed, your GMRS call sign is issued and valid for 10 years. |
Receive your GMRS call signYour official license will appear in ULS in 1 to 3 days, and be emailed to you if you provided an email address. |
