Tech License Manual, 3rd EditionNew Ham Training Classes are conducted in the first floor classroom at the Radio Club of Tacoma Clubhouse. Classes typically run for two days, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on a Saturday and Sunday. Most participants take and successfully pass the Technician Class license exam at the next License Exam session. Preregistration is required. Contact the Club's Education Coordinator to register for the class.

New Ham Training Classes will use as a study guide the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual Revised 5th Edition. Copies of the Manual will be available for purchase from the Club's Education Coordinator.

The current fees for the class and licensing are as follows:

If you wish to obtain the manual prior to class, you can meet me at the club house on a Saturday morning as I am at the clubhouse most Saturday mornings from 9am --> 11:30AM, or,  here are a couple of links where you may be able to purchase them:  ARRL, Amazon

 Class Schedule for 2026

    • September 05th & 06th
    • October 10th & 11th
    • November 07th & 08th

Other classes as needed. Classes may be cancelled when there are not enough requests for attendance, a minimum of 7 students confirmed and in attendance is required.

For testing purposes you will need to follow the instructions on the License Exam page. We are currently holding 1 - 3 testing sessions in the evening of the second Tuesday of each month. The total number of test sessions that will be held is dependent upon the total number of testee's that will be or have requested to test out based upon the class of license that they wish to obtain. Our testing processes are in the middle of major changes as we are implementing a new system, new to the Radio Club Of Tacoma.
