Ask Elmer!

Elmer Who is Elmer? In the amateur radio world, an Elmer is simply a mentor who can help other hams learn about different aspects of this multi-faceted hobby. In a QST article in 1971, Rod Newkirk's (W9BRD) mentor was a ham named Elmer, and he wrote 'every new ham should have an Elmer of their own.' And the term has stuck with hobbyists ever since!

At the Radio club of Tacoma we have a rich brain-trust of experienced and knowledgeable "elmers" who are ready to answer your questions and assist you with antenna designs, learning Morse code, contesting, DX'ing, radio equipment, license exams, and general technical questions related to the world of radio!
